Last Friday, we took advantage of a no school day, and planned a trip to the Peanuts Great Pumpkin Express, at St. Louis Union Station. We all had such a wonderful time kiddos did not want to leave! Since this is a new event this year, I thought I would share a little insight into
our trip, to possibly help anyone else that is planning on going.
When you first arrive, you check in and receive wrist bands that allow you access into the “pumpkin patch” area. We were first greeted by a “clown” (but no worries, he was not dressed in costume) who joked around with the kiddos while we were waiting in line for our wrist bands. The line was very short since we arrived the suggested 90 minutes prior to our train departure. (we had a 4:30 departure on a Friday afternoon) As soon as we entered the “pumpkin patch” Lucy and Snoopy were there to greet us and give out hugs.
Our first stop was balloon animals and face painting. (My littlest guy even sat still long enough for a pumpkin on his cheek.) Next we picked up a cup of warm apple cider (which tasted like a delicious apple pie) and a cookie. ( the cookies are The Sweet Alexis brand, so they are *dairy free *egg free *nut free) While sipping our cider, we walked through and each kiddo picked out their pumpkin to decorate and take home.
Soon after we finished decorating our pumpkins they began calling groups to board the train. Once on board they read It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown on the overhead speaker and Snoopy’s helper came by with the book to show us the pictures. The train ride was short, but the kids enjoyed getting up and looking out the windows at the city. After we arrived back to the depot and unloaded, Snoopy and Lucy were waiting outside the train for more picture opportunities.
Now, if you have ever been to St. Louis Union Station before you have probably noticed the paddle boats. My kids love them! And were of course
begging asking politely to ride in them. Much to my surprise the attendant said they were “on the house” since we were part of the Great Pumpkin Express! Best news all day for the kiddos 😉 After our legs felt like jello from pedaling the paddle boats, it was time for us to go, although I believe we could have gone back in for another balloon animal.
I hope I was able to give you a little insight into this fun family event.
